Abstract

The inhibition effect of the Sulfamethoxazole as corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel in 1M HCl has been investigated at 303K temperature. Corrosion rate was analysed by using weight loss and electrochemical methods. The inhibitive action may be attributed to adsorption of inhibitor molecule on the active sites of mild steel. Polarization results indicates that the inhibitor act as mixed-type inhibitor. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was used to investigate the mechanism of corrosion inhibition.
